This tour examines key ingredients for urban revitalization and discuss the urban design and architectural strategies at work in the vibrant, rapidly growing South Lake Union neighborhood. Participants will experience the evolution of re-investment and re-development in the neighborhood and discuss transformation of a nomansland into one of the fast growing neighborhoods in the country. The tour will engage public master planning projects, private-public ventures, and unique experiments in private development. From Cascade to Westlake and ending up among the most recent projects near Denny Park, this tour shares the recent history of the neighborhood, explores projects illustrating key strategies, and asks participants to consider what is the right mixture for successful revitalization of an urban neighborhood. The tour includes Stackhouse Apartments, St. Spiridon’s, 400 Fairview, 9th and Harrison, and Denny Park.
