Saturday Family Events For Children Ages 6-11 & Their Guardians

Children and family members explore architecture through hands-on activities at our Saturday events that highlight a new design topic every month! Arrive at 10am for an introduction to innovative examples of local and global architectural projects. Then, children take the lead in using the design process to create their own design proposal for a group presentation. Volunteer architects and designers assist children and families along the way.
Location: Center for Architecture & Design ⎮ 1010 Western Ave
Dates: 2nd Saturdays, 10-noon
Cost: These events are FREE. Space is limited and advance registration is strongly encouraged.
Go Outside! Designing Public Spaces

In this workshop, students will look at the innovative designs of parks and other public spaces all over the world, and design their own park. Will it feature a giant swirling slide? Will it be designed as one big maze? The sky is the limit.
Backyard Barnyards: Urban Farming

Have you ever wondered how you could raise chickens or bees in the middle of the city, or plant peavines and tomatoes in an apartment complex? This workshop will look at how both architects and residents of the city can garden and farm in a dense city.
Ziplines and Hoverboards! Designing Transportation

This workshop is about futuristic cars that hover and drive themselves! Students will plan and design future-thinking cars and public transportation, as well as design new roads and highways for these new modes of transportation!
Recycle, Recycle! Creative Reuse Through Design
