Design Soirée is a series of exclusive design-oriented events in some of Seattle’s most interesting homes, design studios and a range of exciting and sometimes inaccessible spaces. These events are intended to cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation of how design enriches our lives. Each event includes food, drinks and activities curated by each host — architects, engineers, contractors, artists and more.

While enjoying yourself among colleagues, friends and new acquaintances, feel good knowing you are helping Seattle Architecture Foundation connect thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds to the architecture, design and history of Seattle, All funds raised through Design Soirée support the various programs offered by SAF, including exhibits, tours, talks and programs that teach youth how design addresses social issues. SAF reaches more than 6,000 people a year through its programs, events and outreach activities.

Station House - A Sneak Peek at Affordable Housing Over the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station

Hosted by: Capitol Hill Housing, Schemata Workshop and Walsh Construction

Capitol Hill will be the home of a landmark Equitable Transit Oriented Development project – featuring 435 new homes for people of all incomes, as well as an array of new retail offerings, a child care facility, and the Capitol Hill Farmer’s Market. Unlike most new construction projects in Seattle, 40% of these new homes will be for low to moderate income families. 110 of those homes will be provided at the Station House – the newest, greenest, all affordable building in Capitol Hill Housing’s portfolio. Take a tour of the building and learn how it addresses the affordable housing crisis, provides living wage jobs, and contributes to the placemaking of this vibrant urban community. At the end of the event, guests will enjoy food and beverages courtesy of our generous hosts!

This event is part of SAF's Design Soirée Series, and all proceeds support SAF's mission of connecting the public to Seattle's Architecture, Design and History.
