Brewing Up Good Design | Design Soirée

Take an exclusive back-of-house tour of the new design of the Georgetown Brewing Company by Olson Kundig. Explore the brewery’s transformation from a nondescript warehouse building to an award-winning bustling brewery. Enjoy happy hour on the premises: ticket includes one beer and snacks courtesy of Olson Kundig and Georgetown Brewing Company and the tour. The venue does not provide specific Covid-19 restrictions. Guests are encouraged to be fully vaccinated and boosted and masks are optional.
Completed in 2010 and expanded in 2019, Georgetown Brewing Company uses hot-rolled steel, bold graphics, and oversized sliding steel doors as signature design elements. This straight-forward materials palette reflects the building’s industrial character while creating opportunities to engage with the architecture. Two oversized steel doors positioned at the corner of the building slide open to reveal a dramatic entry and function as a large billboard to passersby. Within the expanded tasting room, a manually operated sliding glass door allows the activity of the interior to spill outside to a new casual gathering patio.
This event is part of SAF’s 2022 Design Soirée Series. SAF is a 501 c3 nonprofit and all proceeds directly support our architecture & design programs for youth and families.
