Despite constant development and change in recent years, the South Lake Union/Cascade neighborhood supports a vibrant and growing community of residents and neighborhood businesses. This tour explores the architectural and urban design elements that contribute to a lively and livable Cascade, from "big picture" city contributions down to individual developer design decisions. With a focus on the neighborhood's residential architecture, green spaces serving as community spaces, and history as both a mixed-use neighborhood and urban wasteland, this tour delves into the question of what makes an urban neighborhood thrive. Join us for a discussion on the contributions of architecture as we observe current construction projects, long-standing and historic structures, and the overall transformation of this ever changing neighborhood! Featured stops include Alley 24, REI, the Urban Forest and other historic and under-construction buildings.
