SAF Volunteer Event - Denny’s Knoll, the U.W., and the Olympic Hotel: A History of a New Town and Big Dreams
Tue, Jan 19, 2021 from 5:30pm - 7pm
Part history, part architecture, part pop culture — learn about the Olympic Hotel and its surrounding Metropolitan Tract through a photo-rich lecture centered on Denny’s Knoll, that patch of ground once on the fringes of Seattle. You’ll hear the story of Seattle’s founders, their early vision for the University of Washington, and how that vision allowed the Olympic Hotel and the surrounding Metropolitan Tract in downtown Seattle to grow and become what it is today.
This talk will be presented by Nancy Day, volunteer tour guide for the Seattle Architecture Foundation and hobby historian. Nancy prepared this presentation at the request of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, and will enjoy sharing it with other SAF volunteers!
